Shows 2011

The first show we attended this year (2011) was held at High Point State Park.  The day started cloudy with a bit of light rain.  Since the show is held only a few miles from home I took a chance and attended.  All in all it was a nice start to the show season.  Great to see the car show friends.

The cruise nights at the Chatterbox have started, every Saturday about 4PM to 8PM.  We have been there twice already and it is only the first week in June.  We missed one night because we also like to go to the Lost in Time Car Club cruise night at Friendly’s in Marshalls Creek, PA.  Being a club member has its benefits, a nice discount off dinner and dessert.  Happened to be our 23rd wedding anniversary that day so my wife and I took an all day cruise around the area.  We spent about an hour driving the roads in the Delaware Gap park plus some time at the flea market before meeting up with friends for  dinner and the cruise night.  Gotta love it, the car was again chosen for a trophy, Cruise Favorite.

June 7th, 2011 - Attended the Cruzin Port night on Jersey Ave. Port Jervis, NY.  (first Tuesday 5pm to 9pm)  I got there and registered about 5:45 and was number 96... that doesn’t count the cars that don’t register and just cruise.  Lots of nice cars, many I haven’t seen before.  The cruise seems to draw people from a good distance, not bad for a Tuesday night.  My daughter was excited when she heard the announcement that we won “Most Unique Car.”

We are planning to be at the following shows:

June 11th - Washington, NJ or Livingston Manor, NY

June 12th - Hawley, PA

June 19th - Nay Aug Park, Scranton, PA

June 25th - Good Guys at Rhinebeck, NY

June 26th - Milford Farms, Milford, PA -- if they let me in since it is for 87 and older...

July 10th - Street Rodder Cruise at Port Jervis, NY

July 16th - Pocono Palace, Marshalls Creek, PA

July 17th - either Clark’s Summit, PA or Augusta, NJ

July 31st - Orange County Antique Auto Club - RT 416 Montgomery, NY

Shows 2010

Sept 25th, 2010 - Good Guys at Pocono Motor Speedway, Long Pond, PA

The Good Guys show was awesome.  I arrived about 9AM and was registered as car 741... so maybe 1000 cars were there by the end of the day.  I lost count of the number of people I talked to with questions and comments about the car.  I am glad I had made up business cards with this web site’s address, it was much easier to provide that than try to exchange email addresses with everyone that had questions.  To those of you who I met at the show and have come to the web site, Thank you all for your kind comments and interest in the car.

We stayed almost to the end of the show and got on line to take a couple laps around the track.  Just in case anyone was wondering, the car easily did 125mph on the front straight... if I didn’t catch up to other cars I probably could have used 6th gear....  The one thing I wish is that I could have heard what the car sounded like coming out of the last turn and running up through the gears on the front straight.  The exhaust system is fairly quiet at normal highway speeds and RPM (1500 - 1800 RPM cruising),  but at 4000 RPM / 125 mph with the top down it wasn’t so quiet.

On the drive home we stopped  to pull in to a McDonald’s.  While I waited in the car I heard  “You in the 57 come across the road.”  I had stumbled upon a cruise night for the “Lost in Time” car club at a Friendly’s.
Once we had our food we drove over and were warmly received.  We met plenty of wonderful people.  Not only did we win a door prize but also a Trophy for Pick of the Month.  My daughter was excited to be able to pick up the trophy since she helped build the car.   We will have to come to another cruise night.  In fact if I have my information correct there is one Saturday October, 2nd that will be collecting food.  The goal is to fill an El Camino.  The location is the Friendly’s on 209 near Marshall’s Creek, PA.

Oct 2nd, 2010 - Was invited to drive some dignitaries in the Sussex County Fireman’s Parade in Branchville, NJ.  Hung out with bunch of Wanderer Car Club guys while waiting  for the parade to start.  The parade route began and ended in the same park and took about 30 minutes to complete the trip.  When I returned there were still trucks and groups waiting for their turn to start.  I have no idea how many trucks were there but it was very impressive.  After visiting with the Firemen from our town I headed out to the Lost In Time Car Club’s Harvestfest cruise night in Marshalls Creek, PA.  I think they almost met their goal of filling an El Camino with food.  We had dinner there (Friendly’s), won another door prize, a wash bucket.  Which is good, I actually needed another to rinse with.  A bit later I was surprised to hear our name called as the winners for “Best Custom”.  I am really feeling guilty, I visit this cruise night twice as a guest and take home a trophy each time.  I picked up a membership application since this is really nice group of people.

Oct 3rd, 2010 - Wantage Township Veterans’ Memorial Fundraiser
at Woodborne Park 145 Sherman Ridge Road, Wantage, NJ.  The weather was beautiful for the show, just a bit breezy as usual for the location.  I ended up parked beside a 1957 Belair in almost the same color blue.  If only a 4th generation Camaro had parked on the other side it would have made an interesting photo.

Oct 10th, 2010 - Montague Days Car Show at the Montague Municipal Building, 277 Clove Road, Montague, NJ 07827 for more information download the flyer.

More to Come...
